My grandmother loved her family and talking about her family members. She kept many records and photos over the years. One summer, after my grandfather passed away, I visited her at her home in St. Louis, Missouri. She pulled out her family Bible, photos, documents, and more. We went through all of these together, and I was fascinated by her stories and knowledge.
I was around twenty-three years old and teaching world history at the time. I have always loved history and reading stories, and I, for some reason, loved conducting research. My grandmother introduced me to genealogy and some of my ancestors on this extraordinary trip. To honor the fantastic grandmother, woman, and role model, I wanted to share a little about how she introduced me to the world of genealogy.
